SAY WHAT YOU WILL ABOUT THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION (but do keep in mind this is a family publication). It may be spendthrift (no argument there, except that doesn't distinguish this administration from its long and mostly unlamented line of predecessors). It has more than its share of prickly beings whose ambitious reach exceeds their tenuous grasp (witness the tooth-and-nail tussle over who shall regulate the regulators).
